Our Journey

Kits4Kids Foundation is a private equity and self funded social enterprise started by Prof. Eric Lim in 2003, dedicated to provide special needs and social services for children and youth. Over the years, Prof Eric Lim's students and acquaintances opened Kits4Kids around the world - each one self funded and privately owned but all sharing the belief that every child is exceptional and can learn uniquely. Since its launch in 2003, thousands of kids received opportunities from Kits4Kids' social mission, efforts and activities through its different projects: Kits4Kids Special School, Kits4Kids International School, Kits4Kids University and KLaboratory.
Born from the owner (one of Prof Eric Lim's students)'s passion and experience in volunteering with Kits4Kids Foundation in Singapore in 2006, Kits4Kids Kindergarten was launched in 2009 by a Malagasy citizen, fully independent and self funded, with the vision of empowering students in Madagascar through education using the English language. With only 3 students and about 10 full time staff, Kits4Kids Kindergarten was one of the first pioneers in the middle-class English speaking schools in Madagascar. Adopting a hybrid program inspired by different international standards around the world.
In 2012, the school student body grew and the school moved to a bigger area enrolling students from Nursery to Grade 1. Though the school is not a special school like its sisters in Asia, its teaching and learning approach is student-centered and aims to respect the rhythm and learning style of each student. The school decided to only open the grade that was held by the eldest - first students to ensure that the standard of education is kept over time.
In 2016, with more than 80 students and after having moved through two different locations, Kits4Kids International has finally moved to its current address and started to prepare for international authorization and accreditation both in terms of teaching approaches and infrastructure.

In 2021, the school was registered with the ACER allowing students to take part in the International Schools Assessment (ISA), making it the first school to be registered in Madagascar. Since then, students in Grade 5 and KJS Year 5 (Grade 10) are then taking the ISA - providing a benchmark for the school, students and parents on which to evaluate the school's program against the 60,000 students in the 245 schools across 60 countries - providing a guarantee as to the academic standard and attesting to its status as an international school. In 2022, the school was then registered with College Board making it the third school in Madagascar registered on their K-12 platform.

Kits4Kids International becomes the first BTEC center authorized by Pearson providing BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma and Diploma in Business and Hospitality and Hospitality, making it the first school offering vocational program at the SH Years level (Grades 11 and 12) using English as its language of instruction in Madagascar.
